Alastair Blant has over 30 years of experience of shooting safely and effectively. A Level 5 qualified teacher and assessor and a City & Guilds trainer for the last 15 years, he will quickly add confidence and safety awareness to your wildlife control teams, regardless of their experience.

Alastair has been shooting, stalking and generally living a life outdoors with firearms since he was old enough to carry an air rifle on the family farm. He has run RFD businesses, taught newcomers to the sport how to shoot as well as tutored more experienced shots. A lively presenter, you and your staff will always learn something new when attending a training session with him!
He holds both a Level 3 and Level 5 (Degree level) NVQ in Teaching and Assessing.
Alastair is a qualified Range Conducting Officer and is trained with (and promotes!) Celox trauma products. "Better to have and not need, than need and not have."
New clients are coming on board all the time, but established training customers include Animal Plant Health Agency, London Southend Airport, Cornwall Newquay, Marshalls of Cambridge. MoD RNAS Culdrose and Bristol Airport.
“We have used UKFT Ltd a number of years for firearms training for our bird control unit, as they provide a well presented and professional approach to all our firearm training requirements. With a good mix of theory and practical training, our staff enjoy the courses and find them very informative.”

Although Alastair offers a standard format general firearms and shotgun competency, handling and safety awareness course, let him design and present one to your unique team. Humane despatch, drone control, Very pistol use and maintenance - just ask the question.

With recent Government-body (HMICFRS) recommendation in favour of compulsory firearms and shotgun training, basic firearms safety has never had more relevance, especially with operatives with limited firearm handling experience. Your insurance company will want to see evidence of regular refresher training.
With over 30 years relevant, practical experience in wildlife management and 15 years as a qualified shooting instructor and trainer, Alastair will guide your operatives through the reality of using firearms as part of their 'toolbox' of wildlife control equipment and advise when alternatives be used.
In 2025, Alastair graduated with his Level 5 qualification in Teaching and Assessing.
